Speaker 1 00:10 Hi, I'm John Cohen and welcome to my podcast icons of DC area real estate. This'll be a one-on-one show where I interview leaders and luminaries, the DC area real estate market, some of whom have then clients of mine over the last 32 years since living here and I was inspired to do this by my participation in the mentorship program that Urban Land Institute's Washington District Council offers, which is a program where five to six young leaders are paired with a mentor and we meet monthly or so and on two different leaders and see different projects in the marketplace and sometimes do seminars, et Cetera, where we guide young leaders in their thought process about growing and their career in the marketplace. This is something that's interested me. Most of my career. Several years ago I decided to really get engaged with young people and now my client base is primarily young professionals.
Speaker 1 01:13 My tried to guide and lead and my practice of raising capital for them, both that equity as well as monitoring there strategy and my planning sessions with them, the characteristics of a successful real estate operator entrepreneur. We'll come out in these interviews as I will be probing with questions from my background and often acting as if I'm interviewing them to be a advisor to them. So I will be probing about their background, their philosophy, and what their best practices were. And so I'm hoping that the takeaways will be helpful to you in your career. And then if you have questions, of course you can reach out to meet host and we will have no show notes about each interviewee's background and their experience.
